House Rules and Clarifications
House Rules noted by an asterisk.
Rage
Please note that you cannot spend a rage and a gnosis during the same challenge, unless a gift states otherwise.Rage is assumed to be regained every game session unless otherwise stated by a narrator. Rage can be used for the following:
- Changing forms instantly - Normally it take one second for every social trait you have to change forms.
- Ignoring Wounds - When any Garou have been incapacitated, they may spend a rage to heal one health level.
- Extra Actions - For each rage spent, you gain another action that can be used to attack more than one person, or attack and escape. Rage and actions must be declared at the beginning of the challenge.
* You cannot use this to attack one person more than once.- Extra Attacks - If upon completing a successful attack on someone, you can decide to spend a rage to perform another test to inflict a second wound level. The target can only defend this attack, and the Garou cannot be wounded as a result of the second attack.
* Please note the difference between action and attack: without this house rule, an Ahroun Garou can spend five rage and do a possible six levels of aggravated damage in one "action". The rage spent to get an extra level of damage is due to the ferocity of the attack, not a separate attack.
One rage is regained upon:
- Seeing the moon for the first time that night.
- Beginning of a new confrontation (new scene).
- First wound of the day.
- Humiliation.
All rage is regained upon:
* Seeing a packmate die
* The evening of your auspice moon
* Breaking your own personal fetish
Gnosis
Gnosis can be spent to step instantly through the gauntlet into the near Umbra, unless the gauntlet is too strong.
* Gnosis can be used to retest a magic based challenge.
Regaining Gnosis:Players do not start out each game with full gnosis. Gnosis can be regained by:
- Certain fetishes can be used to replenish gnosis.
- Convincing an Engling spirit to give up its gnosis, then eating the spirit.
- Rite of the Cup can be used to transfer gnosis.
- * Meditation: Once a day for every level of meditation you have, you can use an appropriate mental trait to do a simple test to regain a gnosis. If you have more will than rage, you win ties.
Will Power
Will can be used to:
- Automatically win a frenzy check.
- Ignore side effects of all wounds for one challenge.
- Ignore the effect of one mental or social challenge.
- Regain all lost traits in one category per will spent (mental, social, or physical).
Will can be regained by Stargazers using meditation in a similar way to regaining gnosis.
New Rules
New rules for different forms
The following traits are added to Garou in different forms:
Glabro Crinos Hispo Lupis Ferocious Ferociousx2 Ferociousx2 Ferocious Robust Robust Robust Tireless Brawny Relentless Tireless Quick Brawny Quickx2 Quick Bestial Bestialx2 Bestialx2 Bestialx2 Healthy Healthyx2 Healthyx2Please note that the three middle forms have an extra level or two added to the Garou's health. This is a reflection of the ability to withstand more damage in these forms before showing the effects. When shifting forms, normal damage is taken off of the new levels first. Aggravated damage doesn't disappear when Garou shifts forms. The total health level of aggravated damage remains unchanged.
I added this after the players guide for the Vampire game was released, and included merits and flaws. One of the merits was "Large Size" and added an extra level of health to the player. I believe this size would be roughly the size of a werewolf in Glabro or Hispo, and the Crinos form even bigger. If anyone has a compelling reason against the inclusion of this rule (other than you're a vampire) please e-mail me at the address below. Oddly, only my rules for Nuwisha have generated more mail to me.

rank two can get basic gifts from other auspices, breeds and tribes
rank three gets the book's intermediate gifts
rank four can get intermediate gifts from other auspices, breeds and tribes
and only my rank five can get the book's advanced gifts.
The extra ranks were added because my game is a continuing game played weekly. I needed to have some additional reward system and this was a good way of giving an attaboy without changing the game too much.In order to gain renown, players must approach a Garou of higher rank and ask to be sponsored. The players must then recount the deeds that they think they deserve recognition for. If the player forgets something, too bad.
* Whining in character might cost renown.
* Whining out of character might cost experience points.
* Cheating might cost you your character
* Anyone not showing up with their character sheet can still play as long as they relent on all challenges.
* Happiness is mandatory, if you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong. This page is also currently under construction. Big Surprise. Please send all suggestions to:Daniel B Utecht.
